About TGI Fridays

For over 50 years, TGI Fridays has been the place where people come together to celebrate, connect, and enjoy great food and drinks.

Our History

TGI Fridays was founded on March 15, 1965, in New York City by Alan Stillman. The original location on First Avenue between 63rd and 64th streets was created with a simple idea: to provide a place where people could come together, meet new friends, and enjoy good food and drinks.

The concept was revolutionary for its time. TGI Fridays introduced the idea of casual dining in an atmosphere that was fun, energetic, and welcoming. The red-and-white striped decor, Tiffany lamps, and friendly bartenders became iconic symbols of the brand.

Over the decades, TGI Fridays grew from a single bar in Manhattan to a global restaurant chain with over 700 locations in more than 55 countries. Throughout this growth, we have maintained our commitment to great food, excellent service, and creating memorable experiences.
